Are You Sitting Comfortably In Your Office Chair?

It may seem a silly question but are you sitting comfortably in your Office Chair? It’s important that your Office Chair is correctly set up to suit your individual requirements.

Begin by setting the height of your Office Chair so that your feet are squarely in contact with the floor. Next, adjust the Office Chair’s back rest so that it gives you good lower back support, particularly when working at your screen, a good Office Chair will be able to be adjusted to keep your back properly supported.

Set the arms, if they are adjustable on your Office Chair to the same level as your desk’s work surface. Make sure your computer screen is square in front of you in relation to your Office Chair.

Your Office Chair should be set up so you can read the screen comfortably without the need to strain your body forward to read it.

Follow these simple rules for a comfortable working position in you Office Chair. Finally, remember to re-adjust your Office Chair if someone else has used it.

Can I Get A Wood Finished Swivel Office Chair?

Most swivel Office Chairs are supplied with either metal or plastic components or a combination of them, however it is possible to purchase an Office Chair that appears to be a wooden framed swivel Office Chair.

How is this done? Obviously whilst wood can be used on certain parts of an Office Chair it certainly can’t be used for the gas lift!

What most Office Chair manufacturers that offer this type of Chair do is to clad certain components in timber. This makes the Office Chair appear to be made of wood.

Typically, they will use a basic welded steel 5 star base over which a finished wood cladding is fixed, giving the Office Chair the appearance of having a wooden swivel base. Obviously, arms can be made of wood easily enough instead of metal or plastic.

The Office Chair’s gas lift will clearly still need to be a metal component. However, most gas lifts on better quality chairs have a nesting plastic shroud arrangement that adjusts to the Office Chair’s height automatically.

With wood framed swivel Office Chairs the shroud is usually finished in something that compliments the timber finish of the chair.

So, if you want a wood framed Office Chair this is how it’s done and it shouldn’t be a problem sourcing one as a lot of Office Chair manufacturers offer them.

Is A Leather Office Chair Always A Good Buy?

The natural choice of Office Chair for many users is a Leather Office Chair. However, is a Leather Office Chair always the best choice for you?

People tend to have a the idea that the best type of Office Chair is a Leather Office Chair and I think this is largely due to the image that has been built up on TV and the movies where the Chief Executive’s office always has a Leather Office Chair.

You need to be discerning when selecting a Leather Office Chair as there is some real cheap rubbish being promoted as “Executive” Leather Office Chairs. Typically these chairs have the very cheapest leather upholstery that barely qualifies to be called leather. Invariably, only the facings are leather with the rest of the upholstery being vinyl plastic.

Also the mechanisms and fittings on these chairs are extremely poor too. So make sure you examine these things closely. If the price seems unbelievable then beware there’s a good reason for this, move on and look elsewhere.
